Tasian Magazine of Contemporary Persian Literature
Issue 00
Co-Editor & Lead Graphic Designer
Tasian was an independent Persian literary and arts magazine published in Edmonton, Alberta. Our mission was to provide a platform for censored, unpublished, or otherwise unheard voices in contemporary Iranian writing — particularly playwrights, poets, storytellers, and emerging artists within the diaspora.
As Co-Editor and Graphic Designer, I helped shape both the editorial vision and the visual identity of the publication. I collaborated closely on content development — reaching out to writers and artists, selecting material, and organizing the magazine structure. Visually, I designed the magazine to feel bold, contemporary, and unrestricted, reflecting the very spirit of the work it carried. The result was a publication that merged typography, photography, and layout into a unified cultural statement.
Despite strong reader response, our work was fully self-funded, and after two issues we paused the project while seeking sustainable support. Tasian remains a proud milestone in advocating for artistic freedom in the Iranian diaspora.
